Federation Cup champions, FC Ifeanyi Ubah started the year
on a bright note by defeating Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
champions, Rangers, 4-3 on penalties to win the Charity Cup.
Rangers couldn’t maximize their numerical advantage
following the early dismissal of FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Ghanaian import, Kojo Baah.
However, the Cup champions fought like Trojans till the end
of the encounter.
FC IfeanyiUbah converted four of
their spot kicks, with Cameroonian midfielder Tamen Medrano the only player to
miss.
Rangers’ duo of Christian Madu
and Afeez Awakan missed their kicks.
It’s the second time Rangers will fail to defeat FC Ifeanyi
Ubah in one month after their Super Four clash, in Enugu, ended goalless.
The Charity Cup is the curtain-raiser for the 2016/17 NPFL
season, which begins, on Saturday.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah will embark on a road trip to Kano Pillars,
while Rangers have an oriental derby against Abia Warriors at The Cathedral.
