NPFL Match Day 10 Preview: Yaw Preko and Boboye Clash

Games for the tenth match day of the Nigeria Professional Football League 2016/17 season begins this Friday, with the first night game of the season, between Lagos based MFM FC and Rangers International to be played at the Agege stadium.  
 

 

Sure, Lagos fans will witness a thrilling encounter on the night.

 

Protesting Sunshine Stars will host Rivers United in Akure.

 

Even though the Owena waves are having difficult times with finances and salaries, they have been able to pick two points from their last two road trips. United should not expect an easy task in Akure.

 

 

The Pick:

 

FC Ifeanyi Ubah vs Plateau United

 

Losing two games back-to-back, though away games is not what will excite many fans of the ‘Anambra Warriors’.  

 

The Yaw Preko tutored side have witnessed some huge investments in terms of the caliber of players who have been attracted to Nnewi and the cozy construction still going in the stadium and environs, so one would think Nnewi fans deserve better results than they are getting thus far.

 

The homers will welcome Plateau United who are currently the leaders on the log.

 

Unfortunately for FC Ifeanyi Ubah, they don’t occupy an enviable position on the table; they are 19^th with two outstanding games.

 

There is no way Plateau United will find it easy against FC Ifeanyi Ubah at this point. They have just been ousted from the Confederation Cup; they lost against lowly rated Katsina United, thus going against United they will appear like wounded lions.

 

Last term, United left Nnewi empty handed, although it was a dissimilar side led by former coach, Zachary Baraje.  

 

This term, out of nine games, Kennedy Boboye has lost only one, so FC Ifeanyi Ubah will face a tougher, tactical United.

 

For Yaw Preko to still have the sympathy of the management of FC Ifeanyi Ubah who are well known for not keeping under-performing coaches for too long, he has to, as a matter of obligation, snatch the maximum points from Kennedy Boboye. 

 

One of the toughest games of the weekend this will be.
