Fresh from Tuesday’s Caf Confederation Cup victory over Ugandan side, Kampala City Council Authority, Rivers United return to domestic football with a match day 26 home tie against Shooting Stars Sports Club, on Saturday.

The match day 26 clash was brought forward due to Rivers United’s continental assignment against Club Africain, next week.

 

Abu Azeez's experience will propel the young 3SC side

 

Club gaffer, Stanley Eguma, is expected to continue with the squad that earned victory in the continent.

With impressive Bernard Ovoke, Bolaji Sarkin, John Odumegwu and Ayo Saka, Shooting Stars gaffer, Fatai Amoo, must present a formidable team to withstand the home side.

However, Eguma could continue with his rotational policy that has seen him change his playing staff frequently.

In goal, he has to choose between Abiodun Akande, who was in goal against KCCA or Femi Thomas, who defended the goal during the last league match at Lobi Stars before facing the Ugandans.

Old-war-horse, Efosa Eguakun could return to make instant impact like he did to earn the home win over FC Ifeanyi Ubah with the last kick of the match.

The previous encounter ended 2-1 in favour of the Ibadan side with goals from Sunday

Lukman Mohammed pulled one back for Eguma’s wards.

Amoo’s side has struggled this term and need precious points to revive their campaign.

There is no doubt that Amoo is under pressure and has very limited time to ring changes.’

Interestingly, he has the experience of Abu Azeez to push his young squad in this clash.
