Rivers United’s campaign in Africa was finally terminated
Friday night in Rabat, Morocco, when the Nigerians lost to FUS Rabat, on the
last match day of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
After losing their last home match, Rivers were condemned to win Friday’s match to remain in Africa.
Incidentally, Club Africain, who defeated Rivers United, in Port-Harcourt made the job easier in neighbouring Tunis, but the Nigerians failed to maximize the opportunity.

Incidentally, Club Africain, who defeated Rivers United, in Port-Harcourt made the job easier in neighbouring Tunis, but the Nigerians failed to maximize the opportunity.
Despite the lead through Bolaji Sarkin, who capitalized on a
defensive error to hit target, the Nigerians came back for the second half and
lost the initiative.
FUS Rabat leveled scores shortly after the break through
Youssef El Gnaoui and a late penalty converted by Mohammed Fouzaire after a
hall ball by captain, Festus Austine, was enough to earn the Moroccans a ticket
to the next round.
The Nigerians finished bottom of Group A with six points.
