Enyimba
legend and former Ghanaian International, Joetex Frimpong, has described his former teammate, Victor Ezeji, as a Nigerian
League Legend, who deserves to be celebrated.
Frimpong
disclosed this to naijaleague.com.ng ahead of Saturday’s Testimonial match for
Ezeji, who won honours in the League as well as Cup and played a record 20
seasons in the league.
Back in 2002,
Frimpong and Ezeji scored 16 goals at El-Kanemi Warriors and Sharks,
respectively, to emerge joint top scorers.
“Ezeji is a
thoroughbred professional who gave his time to football. I’m pleased to know he’s
the first player who retired from the Nigeria Professional Football League
(NPFL) to complete his exit with a testimonial.
“I’m not surprised he
achieved a record 20 seasons in the Nigerian League.
“We spent one season
together (2003), and it was a fantastic time in the colours of Enyimba. I can’t
forget his predatory instincts in front of goal. His assists equally enabled me
score goals”, he told naijaleague.com.ng.
After leaving Enyimba, Frimpong played in Saudi-Arabia, Tunisia and Switzerland before hanging his boots.
Interestingly, both
players share same management outfit, MATCHROM Sports & Media.
